Materials & care

At GÈME I work exclusively with high-quality precious metals, semi-precious stones, and pearls—chosen not only for their beauty, but also for their durability. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to last, but proper care is essential to ensure your jewelry stays looking its best over time.

General Care
To maintain the brilliance and finish of your jewelry, I recommend keeping it away from water, sweat, and harsh chemicals. Remove your pieces before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying lotions, perfumes, or hair products. These substances can accelerate wear, especially on plated jewelry and delicate stones.

Always take off your jewelry before sleeping or doing household tasks that involve cleaning agents or friction.

Gently polish your jewelry with a soft, non-abrasive microfiber cloth to restore shine and remove any oils or residue. Avoid using chemical cleaners.

Materials
925 Sterling Silver
We use sterling silver for its timeless luster and strength. It’s the ideal base for both the silver and gold collections. With regular care, sterling silver develops a beautiful patina but can always be polished back to its original shine.

Semi-Precious Stones & Pearls
We love working with natural elements such as semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls. These materials are unique and delicate by nature—please handle them with care. Avoid knocks, scratches, and exposure to water, perfumes, or creams, as they can dull or damage the surface.

Vermeil & gold filled
Vermeil is a high-quality type of gold plating over sterling silver. To be considered vermeil, the gold layer must be at least 10 karats and 2.5 microns thick. It offers the look of solid gold with the base of pure sterling silver. Gold Filled jewelry consists of a thick layer of solid gold mechanically bonded to a base metal. The gold layer is much thicker than regular gold plating and very durable—perfect for everyday wear.
